Salem is located in Utah County approximately 60 miles south of Salt Lake City,
15 miles south of Provo, and 3 miles south of Spanish Fork on Utah State Road 198 (Historic Highway 6).
Salem was founded in 1851. The population of Salem is about 5,000.

Mountainland Association of Governments Provo to Nebo Corridor Study. The Mountainland Metropolitan Planning Organization has initiated a study to identify specific corridor alignments for the two major corridors connecting the city of Provo in the north and traversing south to the city of Payson.
These corridors are specifically titled the Nebo Loop Corridor and the University Ave/Spanish Fork Main Street Connector. The study will also identify routes connecting to these two main corridors.
